The Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) has launched its inaugural Wangari Maathai Award to honor and commemorate an extraordinary woman who championed forest issues around the world. The USD 20,000 award will be given in recognition of outstanding contributions made by an individual to preserve, restore and sustainably manage forests and to communicate the key role forests play in rural livelihoods and the environment across generations. Serena Hotel, Kampala, Uganda This workshop helped test governance-related questions in Uganda among public servants, academics, journalists, parliamentarians and private entrepreneurs. It was one of the early steps on the road toward defining common governance indicators and a protocol for assessing and monitoring forest governance. See related documents and links to learn more.
