On November 24-25, 2009, PROFOR, the World Bank, and the European Forestry Institute's East Asia Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Program co-hosted a workshop on Improving FLEG in the Mekong Region (Vietnam, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Thailand) in Hanoi, Vietnam. On 21 October, 2009, PROFOR participated in the 8th World Forestry Congress by hosting a side event on the “Impacts of the New Wave of Investment in Large-Scale Farming on Forests and People”. On April 20, 2009, PROFOR and the NFP Facility took advantage of government delegates gathered at UNFF8 in New York to host a side event presenting “Forest Financing Strategies and Country Experiences”. The following decisions had been reached during the PROFOR 2009 Advisory Board Meeting: Approved the alignment of FLEG and PROFOR. Approved the revised operational guidelines reflecting thealignment. Accepted activities proposed under catalytic and programmatic windows, and topics under the Requests for Proposals window, requesting that PROFOR ensure each activity adds value.  Accepted proposed FLEGwork program.
