Trends, Drivers and Tools for Private Investment in Forests: a launch event for two PROFOR studies

What factors cause private forest investment to flow to certain countries, and not others? What can countries do to attract forest investment and unlock more opportunities? Forest Management. On November 18, 2014, PROFOR, the World Bank, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) held an event to launch two PROFOR publications on private investment and finance in the forest sector that aim to answer these and other questions:

Business Climate for Forest Investments: A Survey - an overview of a large diversity of tools to assess investment climate, their applicability in the forest sector and main gaps, that offers a menu of options for further development to improve methodologies and investment climate for sustainable forest management and wood processing; and

Private Forest Financing for Sustainable Forest Management and Forest Products in Developing Countries: Trends and Drivers - a review of available private forest sector financing data that provides a snapshot of different financing flows, improves our understanding of challenges related to forest financing, and presents a road map for better information and access to finance to promote sustainable forest management.
