Framework for the UNDP Programme on Forests

This paper serves as PROFOR's framework document. It illustrates PROFOR's collaborative work in developing and implementing national forest programmes (nfps) and how these nfps are used as a basis to improve cooperation in the forest sector. This framework illustrates how PROFOR operates simultaneously in two spheres: at the country level to assist the development of national strategies for SFM through its contribution to nfp processes with a particular focus on the development of integrated forest financing strategies; and at the international level to advance the development of policy and financing instruments as elements of national and international strategies to support SFM. It highlights how PROFOR also contributes to establishing the foundations for forest partnership arrangements (fpas) as a vehicle to coordinate sectoral support.
