PROFOR seeks to build experience and generate knowledge in the four thematic areas – livelihoods, finance, governance and cross-sectoral cooperation – through a combination of research, analytical work and project support. Experiences and knowledge gained inform the development of innovative analytical tools, approaches and strategies that can be used by others working toward a socially and environmentally responsible forest sector. Furthermore, PROFOR communicates practical experiences and knowledge gained through case studies, best practices and lessons learnt, and shares these knowledge products and tools through partner networks, thematic workshops and publications.
