  • Scaling up ecosystem approaches (closing November 21, 2011)
    The strategic objective of this work is to create a policy environment for taking ecosystem approaches to scale. Understanding the factors that drive adoption of tree-based ecosystem approaches for intensifying production of key food and cash crops will help inform policy. The activities associated with this work would involve a systematic review of existing work on adoption of ecosystem approaches. This information would then be used to develop a model for testing factors that influence adoption of these approaches in the field (this will involve using available data and potentially collecting new data on the parameters considered to be important drivers of technology adoption). The model will be tested in Rwanda. The policy recommendations will be based on the findings from the analysis. The output would cover adoption factors and how policy measures can promote ecosystem approaches that strengthen food security while mitigating climate change.
